La Società della Civetta, founded in 2007 by actor and director Guglielmo Papa, focuses its activities on the development of original theatrical language for new generations.

La Società della Civetta arises from the need to share the theatre experience with other professionals in the field of childhood - pedagogues, educators, psychologists - and to stimulate dialogue with the arts and cultures.

The company creates shows that are designed for children, with special attention given to early childhood. The importance of gesture and attention to detail brings a poetic sensibility to the performances and the actor’s work.

The shows of La Società della Civetta are represented in the programming of some of the most important Italian theatres (Teatro Testoni di Bologna, Teatro Mangiafuoco di Milano, Teatro di Bismantova, Ravenna Teatro, Accademia Perduta/Romagna Teatri) and the company is involved with projects in schools, libraries and cultural centres, also regularly residences with the collaboration and the support of the local public institutions.

The shows of La Società della Civetta have been presented in Italy and around the world. The company has toured to Switzerland, Finland, Ireland, Turkey, Romania, USA, Spain, Great Britain, Israel, Russia, Korea, Canada, Iran, Malta, Montenegro and Germany, indicating international recognition of the high quality of the company’s work.

For these international activities, the company has enjoyed the support of the Italian Cultural Institutes of Dublin, Ankara, Moscow, Tel Aviv, Bucharest, Seoul and Washington. The show "Droplets", translated in 10 languages, has been included in the events of the eighth “Week of Italian Language in the World” in Ireland in 2008 and iin 2010 was showcased at the National Rural Touring Forum Annual Conference (UK), and also the Take Off Children’s Theatre Festival.

In September 2010 La Società della Civetta co-produced with the company Koom Koom Group of Jerusalem,"Ropes Ropes Ropes...", performance directed by Masha Nemirovski for the "Jaffa International Children's Festival , with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Israel.

In October 2010, at the invitation of the "Russian Theatre's International Culture Center" and the company "Class's Hour, " La Società della Civetta took part in the festival "Minicult" Rostov on Don.

The Company has been involved in the festival with the show "Droplets" and the project of "Youth for Children", a drama workshop, directed by Guglielmo Papa, for adolescents in trouble at an orphanage in the city with the creation of a public performance for the Minicult Festival.

In September 2011 La Società della Civetta has produced “Wind” in collaboration with Theatre Royal Bath The Egg for the Bath Festival of Children's Literature in UK

In February 2013 La Società della Civetta has coproducted with Nano & Aroosak (Isfahan, Iran) "1+1", supported by the Dramatic Art Center of Iran and Fadjr Festival Tehran.
